Ed Sheeran returns to social media following one year hiatus

Listen up guys, 2016 might have been one big mess but 2017 is already set for bigger and greater things, with Ed Sheeran ending his one year break from social media.

Yes, the rumours are true, our favourite ginger-haired babe is back and we couldn’t be more excited.

Ed broke the internet earlier this morning simply by tweeting a blue square.

No words, no caption, no explanation.

However, it was more than enough to get his fans excited as it comes exactly one year to the day after he announced his plans to give social media a wee break.

On the 13th of December 2015, Ed wrote: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while.

“I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.

“To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far.

“See you all next Autumn, and thank you for being amazing.”

Which leaves us pretty certain that the mysterious blue square is definitely in someway related to his upcoming third album.

Although he has been missing from social media and our airwaves for the last year, Ed has still been cropping up occasionally with a cameo in the latest Bridget Jones’ film, Bridget Jones’ Baby, as well as penning this year’s X Factor winner’s single, ‘When Christmas Comes Around’.
