Brits believe Father Christmas would have voted against Brexit

Santa is no little Laplander and would have voted to remain in the EU, according to the British public.

A YouGov survey found that 63 per cent of Britons think that Father Christmas would have backed staying in the European Union rather than Brexit.

Thirty eight per cent though said he would have been a full-on Brexiteer, with the rest undecided.

The survey also found that Santa would shun the major parties and vote Green in a General Election.

Staying in the EU would make sense for Father Christmas as he can benefit from unlimited border controls on the night of December 24th and his sack of toys, let alone his huge number of elf workers, might rely on access to Brussels’ Single Market.

If there is a General Election caused by the Brexit vote, Santa would vote Green possibly because of the issue of global warming, or the fact that his sleigh has a low-carbon emission.

However, not everyone was convinced.

If he wasn’t “Green”, 23 per cent backed him as a supporter of Labour, led by Father Christmas-lookalike Jeremy Corbyn.

Ten per cent of people thought he would back UKIP in an election.
