Rihanna throws shade at Beyonce following Grammys snub

In case you missed it, yesterday the nominations for 2017’s Grammy Awards were announced, with Beyonce leading the way with a whopping nine nominations for her album, ‘Lemonade’.

However, some people reckon that there is something fishy going on after Rihanna’s was snubbed in the Album of the Year and Song of the Year categories after racking up eight nominations elsewhere.

Riri is nominated for Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance, Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song, Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Recording Package, Best Rap/Sung Performance and also as a featured artist on Drake’s album ‘Views’, which is up for Album of the Year.

Her absence in the Album of the Year category for her album ‘Anti’, alongside her Song of the Year snub, have had her fans wondering if she was rejected so not to overtake Beyonce in the nomination stakes.

After all, if she had been nominated then she would have had 10 nominations in total – two more than Queen Bey – and it isn’t just the fans who are suspicious.

In fact, Rihanna appeared to throw shade at both Beyonce and the Grammys by liking an Instagram post from a fan, with the caption reading: “Congrats and all to @badgalriri and her 8 Grammy nods but to be honesty f*** them because they snubbed her for Song of the Year and Album of the Year.

“Like, how my n****!? I think they didn’t want her tied or passing someone else *cough cough* [lemon emoji]

“If they [didn’t] play her she would have been in the lead with the most Grammy nods. F*** you Grammys, Anti did amazing things this year and ya’ll played her.

“I think ya’ll shook”.

The lemon emoji is a clear reference to Beyonce’s visual album, ‘Lemonade’, which was released earlier this year.

Rihanna has not publicly commented on her Grammy nominations, with her Instagram like on this post being her only acknowledgement so far.
