This pig hangs out at airports and helps nervous flyers to calm down

Pigs might not be able to fly but this one can definitely help others when it comes to travelling on a plane.

Bacon Bits is a special pig, you see – not only does he have a BRILLIANT name, but he also hangs out at airports to calm nervous flyers who are waiting to travel.

Some airports use dogs to help but the Albany International Airport in New York is using Bacon Bits – and he has gone down a storm.

His owner Terry Hutchinson told The Dodo: “We get both ends of the spectrum from people who have never seen or touched a pig to people saying, ‘I used to raise pigs when I was a kid.’

“We just walk around and don’t get to walk far because by the time we take 10 steps, there’s already a group of 25 people looking at him because he’s a pig on a leash.”

And when you see a pig on a leash at an airport, those flying fears tend to slip into the background.

Bacon Bits, who is an official ‘Porcine Ambassador’, doesn’t just do airports – he also tours nursing homes around New York, offering comfort and a bit of joyful company.
