Louis Tomlinson thanks fans for giving him 'confidence' in his solo career

To say that Louis Tomlinson’s solo debut was emotional would probably be the understatement of the century, with the One Direction star honouring his plans to perform his single, Just Hold On, at the X Factor final even though his beloved mum, Johannah Deakin, had tragically passed away just three days earlier.

The single, which is a collaboration with Steve Aoki, shot to the top of the charts, with Louis taking to social media at the time to thank his legions of fans for their dedicated support.

However, the star opened up even more last night, taking to his Twitter page to admit that he had been nervous about going it alone during the One Direction hiatus and revealing that the success of his solo debut has given him “confidence”.

Louis wrote: “The support for Just Hold On has been unbelievable. I was nervous about doing something on my own but you lot have given me so much confidence.

“So again thanks ! You’re all siiiiiiick [sic]”.

Louis has always been open about his insecurities surrounding his voice, with the star famously not being given any solos during One Direction’s time on The X Factor back in 2010, as well as having less solos than his bandmates in their first couple of albums.

However, it’s safe to say that Louis has the full backing of his millions of fans and that knowledge will no doubt make his 25th birthday tomorrow, as well as Christmas day, ever so slightly easier following his heartbreaking loss at the start of the month.
