Perth man makes ridiculously Aussie Christmas tree out of 2500 VB beer cans

A Perth man has combined two of Australia’s great loves, beer and the Christmas tree.

Wes Boyd, a father-of-four, has constructed a massive Christmas tree made entirely of cans of Victoria Bitter – 2536 to be exact.

Measuring 4.4m the tree serves as a mighty tribute to the iconic beer and is even dedicated to a good cause.

Mr Boyd, of Beechboro, told Perth Now he put the tree together to “make people happy”.

"Me and some mates love drinking VBs, and two to three mates have been bringing empty cans over here every week for the past 14 months."

The impressive tree even lights up at night.

Mr Boyd said the tree is helping to raise money for charity Alzheimer's Australia and he will be collecting donations for the cause until the rest of December.

The disease had affected both his mother and grandmother before they died.

Mr Boyd said the tree took 14 months to make, with a bit of help from his mates collecting empty cans.

It’s not the first time Mr Boyd has combined his love of VB and Christmas magic.

Last year he shared a photo of a smaller version of the tree on social media.
