Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez beaten up by yobs following Blackpool show

It has sadly been reported that Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Marquez had two teeth knocked out after he was attacked by a gang of yobs following Saturday night’s Blackpool show.

The 26-year-old star was forced to return to London earlier than planned in order to have emergency dental surgery following the brutal attack.

Gorka, who was partnered with EastEnders’ Tameka Empson in this year’s series of Strictly, was targeted by a gang, who ambushed him as he made his way to a popular Blackpool nightclub with his BBC colleagues, Aljaz Skorjanec and Neil Jones.

It was just hours after he pre-recorded a routine with Janette Manrara for last night’s show.

Speaking to The Sun, a friend of Gorka revealed that he was walking to Flamingo nightclub when the vicious assault took place.

They explained: “Gorka and a few of the other dancers were heading to a nightclub to let their hair down after another brilliant show.

“All of a sudden this group of local louts came out of nowhere. One of them punched Gorka in the face and broke two of his teeth.

“Gorka was sober, he doesn’t drink. This was an entirely random and shocking attack on a group of friends simply trying to enjoy a night out.

“They went straight back to the hotel to see if he needed urgent medical care before going back to London for dental surgery.”

A spokesman for Strictly said in a statement: “Gorka was sadly the victim of an unprovoked incident in Blackpool on Saturday night but he will be back in training this week and is looking forward to the group routine next weekend.”
