'Thief' contacts Aussie teacher requesting password for his stolen laptop
An Australian teacher was left gob smacked when a suspect thief reached out to him, requesting the password to his stolen laptop.
The $2,800 Macbook Pro mysteriously disappeared from Damian Bourke’s hotel room seven months ago and he thought it was lost forever… until now.
The Tasmanian teacher received an email via Facebook from a woman claiming to be 6,500 kms away politely requesting his iCloud pincode to unlock the device.
The current ‘keeper’ of the laptop wrote in a bold email to Bourke: “Is there any chance that you will give me the pincode?”
She also went on to disclose that she was a third year college student who “badly” needed the code.
Bourke said he was taken aback when he initially saw the desperate plea.
Bourke then turned to social media to ask advice about what his next step should be to successfully retrieve his laptop.
“Got my MacBook stolen off me in April, it’s turned up in the Philippines. What on earth should I do about this?” he asked his friends on social media.
Some of his friends and family however have since warned him that the ‘pin code’ plea is all part of an elaborate scam from the thief.
