Plus-Sized Women Recreate (and Slay) High Fashion Campaigns
What would high fashion look like with more plus-sized models? BuzzFeed investigates in a video for which they recreate six fashion campaigns, replacing the ultra-thin models with plus-sized women. “Fashion ads are like an adorable make-believe place I don’t belong in,” Kristin, one of the models said pre-shoot. But the photos themselves tell a different tale.
Of course there was some nervousness — after all, who wouldn’t be a little bit wary of recreating pictures of women who take pictures (and know how to look good in them) for a living? But there was also some excitement about representing women with larger bodies, and showing them in a beautiful, aspirational way.
The end results? Let’s just say they prove that a little body diversity in fashion campaigns is definitely something the world needs more of. Watch the stunning transformations in the video above.
