Steve Kerr calls on Congress to condemn Trump after racist tweets directed at congresswomen
Steve Kerr isn’t one to stick to basketball.
The Golden State Warriors coach is constantly speaking out about topics other than basketball, ranging from politics to gun control and more. He is, without a doubt, one of the most outspoken coaches in the NBA.
That’s why it’s no surprise that on Sunday, following a string of racist tweets from President Donald Trump, Kerr was quick to speak out on social media.
Trump sent out a string of tweets on Sunday morning criticizing a group of four minority freshman congresswomen, saying that they should “go back” to the countries they came from.
So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly......

The four congresswomen Trump is referring to — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) — are all American citizens. Only Omar was born outside of the United States, though immigrated to the U.S. as a child and became a citizen at 17, according to the New York Times.
His tweets, naturally, sparked widespread outrage on Sunday. Kerr was among those who took to social media to call Trump out. After retweeting several people who criticized the president for his language, Kerr then called on members of Congress to “show some leadership.”
Come on members of Congress, call out the president for his racist tweets this morning. Show some leadership. It’s the job you were elected to do.

Kerr often uses his platform as an NBA coach to speak out about issues that are important to him. During the NBA Finals last season, Kerr even wore an orange and purple “Vote For Our Lives” T-shirt to urge Americans to vote for leaders who will help create change regarding gun control, an issue the 53-year-old has long been passionate about.
The fallout from Trump’s tweets isn’t likely to die down anytime soon. As that continues, it’s almost certain that Kerr — along with countless others in the sports world — will be paying close attention.
