Ivanka Trump challenges Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's minimum-wage platform: 'People want to work for what they get'

Ivanka Trump took Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” proposal to task in a recent interview with Fox News host Steve Hilton.

In a preview clip of a conversation that will air in full on Sunday’s The Next Revolution on Fox News, the first daughter and White House senior adviser was asked about Ocasio-Cortez’s new policy proposal that promises major jobs, infrastructure and a guaranteed minimum wage.

“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something,” Trump said. “I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last four years. People want to work for what they get. So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job. They want the ability to live in a country where’s there’s the potential for upward mobility.”

Twitter was quick to respond with people questioning Trump’s statement.

Others, however, agreed with Trump and came to her defense.
