Map: Where Americans are going for Labor Day Weekend

Do you have plans to get away for the unofficial last weekend of summer? Expect more crowds if you’re heading to Las Vegas or Chicago.

Those cities top the list of Labor Day weekend destinations this year, according to Priceline. Analysts at the booking site crunched the numbers based on hotel bookings for stays checking in on Aug. 31 and checking out on Sept. 3. Priceline also provided data for the most popular flight routes.

The complete list of destinations:

  1. Las Vegas, Nev.

  2. Chicago, Ill.

  3. New Orleans, La.

  4. New York, N.Y.

  5. Orlando, Fla.

  6. Atlanta, Ga.

  7. Boston, Mass.

  8. St. Louis, Mo.

  9. Minneapolis, Minn.

  10. Denver, Co.

The flight data was based on the most popular routes for flights departing on 8/31/18 and returning on 9/3/18. It looks like New Yorkers are trying to escape the city just as more tourists are funneling in.

Six of the top 10 most popular flights are departing from New York City, landing in Orlando (#3), Los Angeles (#4), San Francisco (#6), Atlanta (#7), Seattle (#8), and Chicago (#10).

Also on the list are routes from Orlando, Los Angeles, and Fort Lauderdale to the Big Apple.

When compared with Labor Day weekend pricing from last year, the cities offering the deepest discounts for the 2018 holiday weekend are Québec City, Rapid City, S.D., and Montreal.

For Americans who are driving somewhere, it’s worth considering filling up on gas a few days early.

“If you see a great place at the pump before the weekend, … fill up now.” Yahoo Finance’s Jeanie Ahn says in the video above.
