The Royals held a spring meeting to tell their players about the dangers of porn

We’ve heard some interesting and innovative team-building activities in spring training, but this is a new one. The Kansas City Royals held a team meeting this spring to educate their players about the dangers of porn.

The team partnered with Fight The New Drug, a non-profit organization, to talk to the players about “how porn can impact a consumer’s overall well-being, which in turn can affect productivity, performance, and personal image.”

This isn’t a new thing for Royals general manager Dayton Moore. He talked about his concerns regarding porn during a press conference last season. While addressing Danny Duffy’s DUI arrest last August, a reporter asked Moore what the organization was doing to to combat alcohol use. The question made reference to Yordano Ventura, who died in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. Ventura’s toxicology report was not made public.

Moore said the team was trying to educate players on the dangers of drugs, alcohol and pornography. With this spring meeting, Moore is showing he takes the issue seriously.

There are sure to be some … interesting responses to this news. We’re going to keep ourselves from wading too far into that commentary. We’ll leave the nuanced takes to you, loyal commenters.
