'My god': MMA world in shock over sickening moment
The MMA world has been sent into a frenzy after witnessing one of the cleanest, fastest and most brutal knockouts of recent memory.
The amazing scenes unfolded during the 2019 edition of the Professional Fighters League (FPL) - a competition that pits MMA rivals against one another in a regular season format, before entering a knock-out stage and culminating in a championship bout.
Six weight classes make up the competition, with Russian Movlid Khaybulaev cementing his status as one of the favourites in the featherweight division, courtesy of a vicious 10-second KO against Damon Johnson in New York.
Khaybulaev went into the bout undefeated in his professional MMA career and it took him next to no time to improve on his impressive record.
Following a cautious first few moments in which Johnson fired a warning shot with a high kick towards Khaybulaev's head, the Russian suddenly pounced in a flash of sheer brutality.
Catching his opponent completely unawares, the 28-year-old launched at Johnson's head with a flying knee that caught him flush on the chin - sending the American crashing to the canvas.
The timing and ferocity of the strike left fight fans gobsmacked, with many describing it as one of the best knock-outs of the year.
My word, Movlid Khaybulaev just landed a vicious flying knee on Damon Jackson. Painful to watch. If you aren’t watching PFL, put on ESPN2 right now for the replay.
