NBA title odds shift after Clippers sign Kawhi Leonard, trade for Paul George
There’s a new NBA championship favorite and it’s no longer the Los Angeles Lakers.
After shocking the basketball world late Friday night with the signing of Kawhi Leonard and trade for Paul George, the L.A. Clippers are now the new favorites to win the 2019-20 title, per the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.
Back in June, the Lakers jumped ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks as favorites for the title when they traded for Anthony Davis. The team opened as 20/1 longshots back in May when the original odds were released and now sit at 5/1.
In those same odds, the Clippers sat behind the Bucks with 7/1 odds, but now have jumped ahead of both.
The Bucks have also reclaimed its spot ahead of the Lakers with the updated odds. The team now sits 9/2 odds.
The 76ers sit at 8/1 and both the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets round out the fifth spot at 12/1.
Interestingly, the Brooklyn Nets are tied with the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat at 40/1. The Nets signed the trio of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan, but will likely be without Durant for the entirety of the 2019-20 season.

Still, this is the NBA and any team is one trade or signing away from getting its share of the spotlight.
Updated MVP odds also released
Westgate has also updated its regular season MVP odds. Giannis Antetokounmpo is now favored to go back-to-back and win the 2019-20 MVP title.
Antetokounmpo, 24, became the third-youngest MVP winner in 40 seasons, behind Derrick Rose and LeBron James. Antetokounmpo averaged 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists while leading the Bucks to a league-best 60 wins.
Behind Antetokounmpo is Stephen Curry at 4/1 odds. Without Kevin Durant and with Klay Thompson expected to miss half of the season, Curry will become the go-to scorer on the Warriors and can win back his 2016 title.
James Harden, the 2018 MVP, sits at 9/2 odds, while new Lakers star Anthony Davis and the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic both sit at 10/1 odds to round out the top five.

Again, who knows what will happen come next season, but if all the recent trades and signings are any indication, NBA fans will be in for a treat.
