Tom Hardy helps to re-home puppies abandoned in a London park

Tom Hardy is just as known for his sweet nature off-screen as he is for his onscreen tough guy image, and the Hollywood actor has once again proven that he has a heart of gold.

It has been revealed that 40-year-old Tom helped to re-home Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies that were found abandoned in a London park yesterday [16 January].

Taking to his social media page, Tom shared a sweet photo of the pups alongside the caption: “New Staffies found and brought to Battersea this am in a box found in park.

“Look at them. I want to house them all 8 weeks old. Go see them xxx”.

Battersea Dogs And Cats Home later revealed that thanks to Tom’s appeal to his 520,000 followers, all of the dogs have found homes.

Posting on their own Instagram account, BDCH shared: “Found abandoned in a box in London’s Victoria Park, these 7-week-old, Staffie puppies were brought straight to Battersea.

“Luckily they all have homes lined up as soon as they’re old enough.”

Intake Manager Steve Craddock added: “These puppies had a lucky escape. The whole experience must have been very frightening for them. It was a cold day and they could have easily got hypothermia, suffocated or died of dehydration.

“Fortunately, they were found in time and – after a drink, a sleep and some TLC – made a full recovery, and now they’re charging about enjoying life with playful puppy enthusiasm.”

Tom is known for being an animal lover, previously penning an emotional letter after his own six-year-old dog, Woody, died after a six-month battle with muscle disorder polymyositis.

Writing online, Tom shared at the time: “He didn’t have a bad bone in his body. All he knew was love.

“The world for me was a better place with him in it and by my side.”

Woody would regularly join Tom for red carpet premieres and even featured in the actor’s famous CBeebies’ bedtime stories.
