Podcast: Beckham back with Galaxy to try for repeat

David Beckham was MLS's co-leader in assists (14) last season

David Beckham revealed how an emotional New Year's Eve conversation with his wife Victoria was behind his decision to remain with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham signed a two-year contract to stay with the reigning Major League Soccer champions after rebuffing the advances of several foreign clubs, including French team Paris Saint-Germain and English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.

Speculation surrounded Beckham's next move from the moment he helped the Galaxy lift the MLS Cup trophy with a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo in November, and it was not until the final day of the year that he opted to come back.

"We were sat at home in England and having a nice glass of wine and that is when we really decided," Beckham said. "It was a tough choice because after winning the title you start thinking that maybe it is the right time to leave. But I want to walk back into that locker room as a champion, and I am here to win it again."

Beckham's return is the main topic on this week's Yahoo! Soccer podcast, in conjunction with World Football Daily. I am the host and discuss the week's news with former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, and leading journalist Charlie Wyett of The Sun newspaper.
