Mariah Carey appeared on Good Morning America Tuesday to promote her latest cause, heart health, and to share her feelings on the death of her friend Whitney Houston.

"I'm almost incapable of talking about this still," Carey said. "It's very heavy emotionally."

The singer reflected on how the two became friends after their collaboration on the song "When You Believe" and the four-hour "homegoing" funeral for Houston on Feb. 18.

Later, Carey also addressed her husband Nick Cannon's recent hospitalization for blood clots in his lungs just one month after he was treated for kidney failure. "We didn't know how big a deal it was at that moment. It was a gradual thing. We ended up in a couple hospitals this year already."

In light of the health scare, Cannon will cut down on his professional commitments. "The best thing I think was the choice that he made to leave the radio show and just focus on America's Got Talent and Up All Night," said Carey. "The thing is, he's a young healthy person. It's about changing the lifestyle."
