The Kardashian sisters may be heading to kourt. A $5 million class action lawsuit has been filed in the state of New York by people who purchased the diet system QuickTrim — which Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney all promote and claim to use to stay fit. According to court papers, the plaintiffs assert that there is no way the famous family could have actually lost weight on QuickTrim because the main ingredient is caffeine and "the FDA has determined [caffeine] is not a safe or effective treatment for weight control." The plaintiffs say that they never would have bought QuickTrim had they known that fact, therefore, the Kardashians, Quicktrim, and the stores that sold the product all mislead them and the public at large — so they're suing.
Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney have all hawked the weight loss pills since 2009, and a bikini-clad Kim is featured prominently on QuickTrim's website. All three sisters are also plastered all over the press page. One story highlights a picture of Kim in Miami for a QT photo shoot, which she had tweeted, along with the message, "I finally feel I've reached my goal [weight]!" That same year, Khloe even appeared on the cover of Life & Style claiming that she had shed 20 pounds in four weeks thanks to diet, exercise — and QuickTrim. She even laid out her four-step plan on her website, and directed fans to the company's site so they could learn more … and purchase the product.
There are seven QuickTrim products available, including weight loss pills, 14-day and 48-hour cleanses, cellulite gel, and an antioxidant powder drink to boost energy, which are sold online, as well as at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, GNC, CVS, and Rite-Aid. Since the company's inception in 2009, it has earned $45 million in revenue — thanks in large part to Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney.
