American Idol, The Day After: Top 13 Night Dish

American Idol, The Day After: Top 13 Night Dish

Last night, "American Idol's" top 13 semifinalists, the boys and the girls, competed together for the first time this season. And Ryan Seacrest announced yet another unexpected Season 11 "twist," revealing that on this week's results show only, instead of having the usual bottom three with the overall lowest vote-getter going home, there will just be one bottom guy and one bottom girl--with the judges deciding which of those two will get cut. Sort of like how they do on...wait for it..."The X Factor."

At first I thought this new rule was set in place to prevent the sad mass exodus of female contestants that happened last season (when five girls, Ashthon through Pia, all went home in a row). But as my "Day After" co-host Matt Whitfield and I chat today about last night's show, it's actually clear that a girl--probably Shannon Magrane, possibly Elise Testone--may be going home this week after all.

Watch Matt and I discuss this latest "Idol" twist, our favorites and least favorites from last night, and who we think tonight's bottom girl and bottom boy will be. Do you agree with our choices and predictions? Let us know!
