Jason Wu for Target Already on EBay
The Jason Wu for Target collection launches on Sunday, so we won't know till then if the diffusion line will cause the same frenzy as Missoni for Target did last September. But clothing and accessories from the Jason Wu collection have already made their way onto eBay prematurely, thanks to some greedy fashion editors hoping to profit off in-demand designs for less.
Currently 25 items are listed on the auction site, with asking prices often double or more what they will cost once they go on sale Sunday at Target. Here's a list of current eBay going-prices:
A pink long sleeve blouse which sells for $34.99 is going for $79.99 on eBay
A $39.99 navy floral dress also currently has bids up to $79.99 with a Buy It Now price of $249
A cat-print scarf which sells for $19.99 is already up to $54 with a Buy It Now price of $149
A cat-print t-shirt which sells for $19.99 is up to $58 at auction
A pleated black skirt (pictured left) which sells for $29.99 is up to $79
Two other pleated skirts (in navy floral, and aqua) which sell for $29.99 already sold for $79 each
A navy trench coat which sells for $54.99 already sold for $99
Several auctions explain how sellers got their hands on the Jason Wu wares in advance. Seller "elenafoxx" who has several pieces listed with Buy It Now prices of $139 writes: "This collection will not be in stores until later in February; I received this from the private pre-launch party at Skylight Soho in NYC; it is in my house and ready to ship so this is your chance to wear it first!"
All sellers of Jason Wu for Target goods on eBay are in New York, so we'll assume that's how the collection is leaking early. Some items are listed so high they currently have no bids. After the Missoni for Target fiasco, we're guessing the retailer is better prepared for shoppers with a more stable website and larger supply of merchandise. We'd suggest getting up early on Sunday to buy direct rather than paying more now for what may be easy to scoop up over the weekend.
