Myleene Klass, who hosts the parenting episodes said: “The thing that annoyed me the most when we first brought Ava home from hospital was people turning up on our doorstep unannounced.

“I’d get text messages asking for our new address and the next thing was, they were ringing on the door bell expecting a cup of tea and putting their unwashed hands in Ava’s mouth.

She added: “I was particularly sensitive to her being exposed to germs as she was premature; I ended up sitting in a ball on the sofa and refused to let anyone take her!”

Yahoo! Lifestyle has compiled the top five most annoying things visitors do according to new mums:

1. Visitors expect entertaining

Those who arrive expecting to be made teas and coffees were most annoying to parents. Others complained that the last thing they wanted to do when getting home from the hospital was tidy the house and get dolled up ready for guests.

2. Guests bring in germs

One mum said visitors with dirty hands made her into a hand sanitizer militant as she chased guests round the house making them disinfect their hands. Another complained that she had to give her baby a bath after a chain smoking friend left her smelling of cigarette smoke.

3. They invade privacy

The Bumps, Babies and Beyond mums were unanimous in wanting to be left alone in the first few days of getting home with their new born baby. One mother referred to the embarrassment she felt as male relatives watched over her when breast feeding for the first time.

4. Guests interrupt routine

Visitors may mean well, but the mums we asked said they wished they could be left to establish a routine before the hordes of visitors arrived.

5. They are inconsiderate

One mum who had had a caesarean complained that guests wouldn’t think when greeting her and would give her a big boisterous hug, ouch.

Avoid these top 5 pet hates and you might be asked back for a second visit.
