England striker Wayne Rooney has posted a picture of his new look on Twitter following a hair transplant.

The Manchester United player uploaded an image showing his post-op hairline just before heading on holiday to Barbados.

Rooney wrote on Twitter: "Hi all there's my head. It will take a few months to grow. Still a bit bloody to (sic). But that's all normal."

The football star had taken to the microblogging site on Saturday to confirm he had undergone a hair transplant and promised to take a picture as soon as the bruising went down.

He tweeted: "Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not. I'm delighted with the result."

He later added: "It's still a bit bruised and swollen when it dies down u will be first to see it. Anyone recommend any good hair gel. Haha".

The procedure, performed under local anaesthetic, reportedly took place at the Queen Anne Street Medical Centre in London, home to the Harley Street Hair Clinic.
