Jennifer Lopez will be Chelsea Clinton's penthouse neighbor in 'luxury fortress,' reports say

Now when Chelsea Clinton needs to borrow a cup of sugar, she can just pop upstairs to the penthouse and ask her neighbor.

That neighbor would be Jennifer Lopez, according to the New York Daily News.

The penthouse had gone begging for more than a year after Clinton and her husband bought a $10.5 million condo in the four-unit prewar building known as the Whitman, at 21 E. 26th St. overlooking Madison Square Park in Manhattan, in early 2013.

On Tuesday, "Million Dollar Listing New York" star real estate agent Fredrik Eklund -- who had been seen around town house-hunting with JLo -- confirmed on his Instagram account that a $22 million contract for the apartment had been inked. His client was JLo, sources told the Daily News.

The Whitman was built in 1924 but has been "completely reimagined ... seamlessly blending prewar quality with postwar conveniences," the listing said.

One feature sure to be prized by Lopez and Clinton: the security. "It's like a luxury fortress," Douglas Elliman listing agent Melanie Lazenby told the Daily News last year. "There's a full-time doorman for only four apartments. I don’t know any other building with that kind of personal service."

NASCAR's Jeff Gordon also owns in the building.

The penthouse has 4 bedrooms and 7 baths in its 6,500 square feet, plus more than 3,000 square foot of outdoor space -- including a putting green and a croquet pitch, according to Curbed New York.
