Source: Kenyon Martin to join Knicks

Veteran forward Kenyon Martin is back in the NBA, via the New York Knicks, a source told Yahoo! Sports.

Martin has agreed to a 10-day contract, the source said. The Knicks have been in need of another post player since veteran big men Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby have been plagued by injuries this season. There's optimism that Martin can stick around for the rest of the season with the Knicks, who have been eyeing him since early in the season.

Martin averaged 5.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 22.3 minutes in 42 games last season with the Los Angeles Clippers. Martin and Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro often didn't see eye-to-eye last season and the franchise didn't try to re-sign him. Martin previously told Yahoo! Sports he was open to signing a contract with any NBA team for any team role.

Martin is a former teammate of Camby, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Kidd and J.R. Smith. The 35-year-old opened his career in the New York-area with the New Jersey Nets from 2000-04. The Nets selected Martin No. 1 overall in 2000.
