Former Mississippi State WR Chad Bumphis has some advice for recruits: ‘Don’t go with the money’

On the eve of National Signing Day, former Mississippi State receiver Chad Bumphis has some advice for those high school seniors embarking on the biggest day of their lives:

Um, thanks?

Bumphis' tweet now leaves us all wondering whether he’s talking about his former school or its rival Ole Miss.

It’s no secret Ole Miss has been the most surprising team on the recruiting trail this season with several top recruits, including a potential pledge from the nation’s No. 1 recruit Robert Nkemdiche, which has led to a lot of speculation as to how coach Hugh Freeze has been able to lure in such a lucrative crop of players.

Freeze, who many recruits say is the reason why they’re choosing Ole Miss, even took to Twitter last week to challenge anyone who though Ole Miss, whose previous best class was in 2005 (Rivals ranked No. 15), was cheating to call the compliance office with proof.

While Bumphis didn’t accuse the Rebels of nefarious recruiting, he did add this tweet to prove exactly which side he was referring to when he mentioned money.

Good to see rivalries stick with you even after you graduate.
