Another ACC team pays for leaving Michael Snaer free in the closing seconds

For the fourth time in the past two seasons on Wednesday night, Florida State's Michael Snaer proved opposing teams cannot afford to leave him free in the closing seconds with the game on the line.

The Seminoles trailed Maryland by a point on its final possession when point guard Ian Miller drove into the lane, drew multiple defenders and kicked out to a wide-open Snaer spotted up in the corner. Snaer made his defender pay for giving him space, burying a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds to go to give his team a 73-71 victory.

Snaer's huge shot added to his legacy as one of the ACC's most clutch shooters in recent memory. Not only did he beat Virginia Tech and Duke with buzzer-beating jump shots last season, he also banked in a 25 footer as time expired against Clemson last Thursday to give the Seminoles a badly needed 60-57 victory.

All of Snaer's game winners have been crucial for the Seminoles, and Wednesday night's was certainly no exception.

Florida State, which is looking to dig its way out a hole caused by early-season losses to Mercer, South Alabama and Auburn, completed a sweep of fellow potential bubble team Maryland to improve to 4-3 in the ACC and 12-8 overall. The Seminoles had lost three of their last four prior to Wednesday, but they now carry some momentum into Saturday's home game against a Duke team they've enjoyed success against lately.
