Ke$ha: ‘I Don’t Love Just Men’

Pop star Ke$ha is known for her candid – sometimes wacky – comments, like that she's "made out with chicks," as she told Entertainment Weekly in 2010, or that she went "to the bone zone with a ghost," as the 25-year-old mentioned on "Conan" last month. Those statements make for good headlines, but it feels like she manufactured them just for shock value. So it's refreshing to read Ke$ha's interview in the new issue of Seventeen magazine, in which the "Your Love Is My Drug" singer reveals a softer side, even further explaining her attraction to women. "I don't love just men," she says. "I love people. It's not about a gender. It's just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you're with."

Ke$ha's offbeat personality has helped her to earn both male and female haters alike, but she insists that it doesn't bother her. "I used it to motivate me then, and I still do," Ke$ha notes. "I remember every person who told me I couldn't do something or that I was ugly or too fat. I have a 's*** list' – people from my past who have been soulless and judgmental. Even after I got through my awkward phase, got my braces off, and figured out how to dress my body, people in the music business were like, 'You're never going to make it.' I see them now and I'm like, 'Ha!' That's one of the reasons I named my record Warrior. You can be a victim and let that eat your soul, or you can say, 'You're going on my list and I'm going to prove you wrong!'"

Ke$ha's Wildest Looks Ever

The singer, who has a considerable LGBT following, is especially vocal when it comes to bullies, and not just because she considers herself and many of her fans misfits. "I'm all about standing up to gay/lesbian/transgender bullying, but it's also about my little brother," she explains. "He's 13 and he gets made fun of because he has a stutter. I just have zero tolerance for people making fun of others."

However, Ke$ha admits that she's the first to poke fun at herself. "I'm very much into making fun of myself because other people do it so you have to be able to laugh at yourself," she notes. "The sooner you can laugh at yourself, the easier your life will be."
