A work event doubled as a date night for Dan Aykroyd and his wife of 30-plus years, Bosom Buddies alum Donna Dixon. The pair hit the New York premiere of his latest flick, the James Brown biopic Get on Up, on Monday looking as in love as ever.

At 57, Dixon, who starred opposite Tom Hanks in the 1980-82 sitcom, remains a blond bombshell. Aykroyd, 62, appeared thrilled to have his wife — who wore a below-the-knee black dress with sheer sleeves — on his arm, giving out a hoot in delight at one point. The actor, who plays Brown's agent, Ben Bart, in the new flick, rocked his signature shades on the red carpet, his must-have accessory since his Blues Brothers days.

As far as celebrity couples go, Dixon and Aykroyd have defied the Hollywood odds and endured. After Bosom Buddies was canceled, the beauty pageant winner-turned-actress met the Saturday Night Live funnyman while they were co-starring in the 1983 comedy flick Doctor Detroit, and they married just months later. They went on to co-star together in several other films, including Spies Like Us and Exit to Eden.

Her husband continued to rack up movie credits, but Dixon, who also appeared in Wayne's World as Wayne's dream girl, pulled out of the spotlight in 1997 — while pregnant with the couple's third daughter. (Danielle was born in 1989, Belle in 1993, and Stella in 1998.) She didn't resurface until landing a role in Spike Lee's crowd-funded flick, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus — her first film in more than 15 years — came out in June.

Although she has remained largely out of the spotlight, Aykroyd has described his wife as an "explorer, adventuress, and true contributor to the lives of everyone she meets." And he literally means that she's an explorer. In 2012, he told The Telegraph, that she had been accepted into New York's exclusive The Explorers Club, which requires members to have made a scientific discovery to get in. Hers? Finding "the bones from a new species of hadrosaurus" on an Aykroyd family dinosaur dig.

In that same interview he called her his "partner in all things in life and business" and admitted, "She keeps me stable."

As for that film that brought them together in 1983? Aykroyd, who has an extensive list of credits, including an Academy Award nomination, says Doctor Detroit remains his all-time fave. "Obviously it's the most important movie of my career," he told Esquire in 2013. "It's the one where I met my wife. It led to three kids and 30 years of marriage, so it's a pretty important movie for me."

To say the least.
