Mansfield Town manager to get free honeymoon if he can beat Liverpool

The FA Cup has had a big impact on the personal life of Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox. The gaffer (who turns 41 on Sunday) agreed to marry his girlfriend if his non-league side beat Lincoln City in the second round of the tournament last month. Following the 2-1 win, Cox kept his word and the wedding was scheduled for Friday, January 4 -- two days before Mansfield's third-round tie against Liverpool.

Now that he's married, the next step in his relationship will also be determined by the next stage of Mansfield's FA Cup run. Blue Square Bet, the bookmaker that sponsors the league in which Mansfield play, the Conference Premier, has offered to pay for a "VIP honeymoon" for Cox and his new wife if his side beat Liverpool.

From MSN:

Blue Square Bet PR Manager Alan Alger said: “It’s a great wedding tradition to have something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue – well, this is the something blue. We hope the team wins on Sunday and the newly-weds get to enjoy a great honeymoon on us.”

Obviously Blue Square probably won't have to pay out on this wager given the fact that Liverpool are heavy favorites, but just to ensure this series of events is carried out to its fullest, Cox should be forced to have a child if Mansfield lose.
