Adam Lambert Set To Host ‘VH1′s Divas Live’ And Out-Diva Everyone

The Voice, The Day After: Live Playoffs Dish, Pt. 2

Many people have called Glamerican Idol Adam Lambert a diva. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, VH1 has spent the past 13 years celebrating the great divas of pop, rock 'n' soul--Mariah Carey, Cher, Tina Turner, Mary J. Blige, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, and Adele, to name but a few--on its popular "VH1 Divas Live" series. So who better to host 2012's "Divas" special, airing December 16, than Madam Lambert himself? If there's one guy who totally gets a diva pass into this elite girls' club, it's Adam, because he can keep up and belt with the best of 'em.

Few male performers or presenters have participated in "Divas" since the franchise debuted in 1999; past "divos" who've appeared include Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, Vegas legends Tom Jones and Wayne Newton, Adam's "Shady" recording partner Nile Rodgers, and of course, the absolutely fabulous RuPaul. Adam will be the first male entertainer to actually host the special, and word is he'll rock the mic at some point, too. Considering that the dance-music-themed evening's official, just-announced performers will include Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, and Jordin Sparks--as well as tributes to late, great past "Divas" participants Whitney Houston and Donna Summer--it's hard to imagine how he'd resist vocally joining in on all that divaliciousness. And he'd fit right in...and probably out-diva them all!

I expect--nay, demand--no fewer than 12 costume changes, Adam.

"VH1 Divas Live" will air December 16 at 9pm ET and will benefit VH1's Save The Music Foundation.
