Rainy Day Survival Guide

By Jessica Conway, GalTime.com

Venturing into April showers can be scary enough to make your hair stand on end (or in my case, uncontrollably curly!) We're here to help you beat the rainy day beauty blues!

No fuss frizz control! When blow-drying your hair, apply an anti-frizz or anti-curl lotion to keep your curls under control. Celebrity hairstylist Sherri Jessee suggests going for something light and greaseless to eliminate frizz. The temporary straightening agent will keep your style shiny and smooth. Try RUSK Str8, which contains a special heat-activated blow-drying agent that will prevent curling and block humidity for 24 hours!

Love your flat iron? Straighten your hair on a low temperature with a heat protecting spray. This product will also get rid of frizz - it works like starch when ironing a shirt! The ingredients seal your hair for a flat-tering look come rain or shine.

Use the climate to your advantage! Embrace the curl humidity causes. An extra dose of hydration can help tame any dry or unmanageable strands. Shampoo and condition your hair with products designed to nourish your locks, and finish with a leave-in conditioner. (I love using a tiny bit of Herbal Essences Hello Hydration!) Jessee recommends applying mousse afterwards, and gently scrunching your hair to separate and define curls. Let air-dry and voila! Your curls will survive the drizzle, while you forget about the frizz!

Beat the damp skin blues! Using a primer after moisturizing, but before putting makeup on, is a helpful trick. Try Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. After, apply a mineral foundation instead of a liquid version. Rouge Cosmetics owner Ann Massey says mineral formulas are typically more heat-proof and water resistant. Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Original or glominerals pressed base are both popular options.

Want some warmth without the sun? Thanks to bronzer, you can still rock a natural glow. I love dusting a bronzing powder on my face. Like mineral foundation, it will stay in place much better than a liquid or cream version. Celebrity Makeup Artist LeAura Luciano says its important cover any blemishes with a matching shade of concealer before you get bronzed and beautiful.

These eyes aren't going anywhere! Gel eyeliner is a great option for humid days because it glides on smooth and won't budge. Applying an eye primer before eyeshadow can also help makeup stay put. Prime Pots from Stila are Massey's favorite. They last all day and highlight your eyeshadow's true hues. And don't forget the waterproof mascara - raccoon eyes can definitely be avoided!

No drip lips are a must! Luciano and Massey both recommend using a lip stain when drops start to fall. And bad weather doesn't mean you have to stay away from fab hues. Why not brighten up your look on a dreary day? Apply a bright lip stain and then use clear gloss, like NARS Super Orgasm Lip Gloss.

No look is complete without a little extra protection! With a rainy day accessory like Longchamp's Clear Umbrella, you'll be able to see where you're going, and everyone will envy your look!
