Breakfast Buffet: Mike Moser’s season is in jeopardy after dislocating his right elbow
1. UNLV's last-second victory at Cal on Sunday night was overshadowed by concern about the status of forward Mike Moser. The all-conference junior suffered a dislocated right elbow during the first half and watched the second half of the game from the bench with his arm in a sling. X-rays on the shoulder were negative Sunday night, but Dave Rice told reporters after the game the best-case scenario is that Moser will miss a few weeks and the worst-case is that the injury is season-ending.

2.Lafayette delivered one of Sunday's most dramatic finishes. Trailing by one point in the final seconds, freshman Bryce Scott buried a 3-pointer off a no-look pass to lead his team to a 72-70 victory over Sacred Heart. The Leopards overcame a brilliant second half from Sacred Heart star Shane Gibson, who scored 25 points on 10 of 14 shooting after being held scoreless in the first half.
3. Why is Doug McDermott one of the favorites to win national player of the year at the end of the season? Stat lines like this. Ho-hum, McDermott scored 30 points in Creighton's 77-61 win over Akron on Saturday, sinking 10 of 15 from the field and 6 of 8 from behind the arc. "I felt really comfortable out there," McDermott told the Omaha World-Herald. "I wasn't trying to do too much."

4. If you are one of the lucky few who gets the Pac-12 network and you noticed a decrease in quality in the broadcasts this weekend, you may not have been imagining things. The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, which represents crew members who work in the TV and movie industry, declared a strike against the fledgling network on Saturday, calling it an "unfair employer." The union said the network has used non-union crews who typically receive lower wages and no benefits.
5. Iona's chances of getting promising 7-footer Norvel Pelle academically cleared to play at anytime this season are looking increasingly bleak. "Ninety-five percent, no," a team source told SNY.tv. "Miracles do happen." A pro prospect in the paint would have been a season-changing addition for the guard-heavy Gaels, but the NCAA apparently has yet to even track down all of Pelle's paperwork because he attended so many schools prior to enrolling at Iona.
How strong is powerful 6-foot-8 Northern Arizona commit Ako Kaluna? The Los Angeles Times reports West Ranch High School in California has several backup rims ready to go in case the senior forward shatters a backboard. Kaluna showed off his power at a tournament in Santa Monica Thursday night when he brought down the backboard with a follow dun after a foul had been called. It's the second time in Kaluna's high school career that he has shattered the glass.
"I want to thank the Nevada state police, who let me get away with driving 110 miles per hour for six hours." -- Brian Berger, who drove from the Nevada desert to a hospital in Utah after learning his son, Utah State swingman Danny Berger, had stopped breathing in practice and had to be revived. The younger Berger has since underwent surgery to have a defibrillator inserted into his chest and has been released from the hospital (Salt Lake City Tribune)
• I highly recommend Monday Night Football (Patriots-Texans) or holiday shopping, but if you feel you absolutely must watch college hoops Monday night, your best bet is a clash between Georgetown and Longwood at 7 p.m. EST.
