From the outside this hangar looks like an empty, nondescript shell - but inside it houses one of the world’s biggest water parks.

Tropical Islands is an aquatic paradise the size of eight football pitches. The massive structure measures 66,000 square metres and is so tall the Statue of Liberty could fit inside.

The water park is located near Berlin and the temperature inside is always a pleasant 26 degrees.

Inside the dome, there area 522 beds in rooms and lodges, as well as hundreds of tents situated around the world's largest indoor rainforest. On top of that, there are the obligatory water slides, pools and man-made beaches.

Towering above the massive water park and resort is Germany's highest water slide tower, which stands at a vertigo-inducing 27 metres.

Up to 700 people an hour can zoom down a 21-metre undulating stainless steel slide, before going on the 112-metre Crazy River steel tube slide, reaching 70 kmph on the power turbo slide.

Away from watery fun are bars, saunas, lagoons, grottos and slides to entertain a capacity of up to 6,000 visitors.

The world's largest indoor rainforest has a one kilometre walkway, 50,000 plants of which there are 600 different species.
