Burger Wars: Super Duper Takes Over Johnny Rockets in the Marina

The Bay Area has been attracting a flurry of burger activity lately with local indie burger makers jumping into the fray.

Adriano Paganini's fast-food-chic Super Duper is filing for a liquor license on Chestnut Street at the sweet corner site of Johnny Rockets. It's icing on the cake of the local burger chain's new larger than life Financial District location and Mill Valley expansion plans.

Remember LA-based burger empire builder Umami Burger is simultaneously putting down roots in Cow Hollow, the Mission and Oakland. They have a cult following. Check out the Flickr fan page.

And you can bet recent Eater 38 inductee, Roam Artisan Burgers won't take this sitting down. Get ready for Burger Wars in San Francisco. [Do slap some extra special sauce on ISSF for putting this out there.]

In other parts of the Bay Area and beyond East Coast chain Five Guys has been battling old fave In-N-Out. See how the two chains stack up.

The Counter also plans to add to its locations in Palo Alto, San Mateo and San Jose, a location in Sunnyvale.
