Now Katherine Webb, AJ McCarron’s girlfriend, might just be in the SI swimsuit issue

This is how it works in America: attractive woman gets attention on a national broadcast, attractive woman gets vaulted to nationwide prominence, attractive woman appears in Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue. You know, just like Eleanor Roosevelt did.

You know Katherine Webb by this point. The girlfriend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was a featured player in Monday night's National Championship game. The reigning Miss Alabama, Webb knows a thing or two about the modeling game, and now — if a quickly-deleted tweet is to be believed — she could be headed to the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

"It's official...shooting with Sports Illustrated!" she tweeted, then quickly removed. But plenty of retweets captured it.

Now, the usual caveats about Twitter and unconfirmed reports apply, and heck, it's possible she isn't referring to the swimsuit issue at all, but rather a skeet-shooting session in the hinterlands of Alabama. (Unlikely, but possible.)

Regardless, it appears Ms. Webb's star remains on the rise. And McCarron may have to be fending off a lot more than just SEC defenses from now on.
