Charlie Sheen Apologizes, Kind of, for Homophobic Slur

Charlie Sheen has managed to get one more public relations gaffe in before the year runs out. The star of the FX sitcom "Anger Management" has been caught on video delivering a homophobic slur while emceeing the opening of a rooftop bar at a hotel in Mexico.

"How we doing?" the 47-year-old actor can be heard asking the crowd at the El Ganzo Hotel in San Jose del Cabo, near Cabo San Lucas, after taking the microphone Friday night. "Lying bunch of f---got a---s, how we doing?"

The incident came to light Saturday via a video posted by TMZ. Sheen later apologized for the slurs, telling the site, "I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone."

But the sincerity of his mea culpa came into question with his follow-up, "I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp."

Sheen was on stage to introduce several music acts, including guitarist Slash.

One celeb who probably wishes he hadn't made the scene would be Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The mayor's presence at the bash got the full Twitter splash on Saturday, when Sheen tweeted a photo of himself (above) and the politician with the message, ""From Boyle Heights 2 Mayor of LA..! @hotelelganzo 2 party w/SHEEN at SheenZ..! Antonio Villaraigosa knows how to party!"
