Marcus Canty’s New Single Is Way Better Than You’d Expect

Poor Marcus Canty was the token "when is he going to get voted off already????" contestant of "The X Factor" Season 1 (every season of every TV talent show has one), the scapegoat that many detractors believed stole a spot in the top four from Rachel Crow. But the target is off Marcus's seemingly Teflon-coated back now.

Now officially signed to his mentor L.A. Reid's Epic Records, the soulful showman has just released a new video for his single "In & Out Of Love"...and I am kind of in love with it, surprisingly. Perhaps I underestimated this kid.

The high-energy jam, which features a rap by the very credible Wale, sounds shockingly current, badass, and funky-fresh. It wouldn't sound out of place on Usher's latest album, and it's certainly better than anything on Chris Brown's new Fortune LP. It's just the sort of breakout single to not only redeem Marcus, but solidify "The X Factor's" standing as a more progressive, hip, R&B-leaning sort of talent show. Check it out:

Well done, Marcus. Well done. Now...when is Astro's new single and video going to come out?
