School president will shave his head if Cincinnati beats Marshall on Saturday

When Cincinnati faces Marshall on Saturday in Charleston, W.Va., more will be on the line than just the Bearcats' top 15 ranking and undefeated record.

Also at stake will be a bet school president Santa J. Ono made in August with then-football coach Butch Jones and basketball coach Mick Cronin.

Ono pledged to have his full head of black hair shaved off if either Cincinnati's basketball or football team won 10 games in a row. The football team ran off five straight wins to start the season before losing to Toledo in October, but the basketball team currently stands 9-0 entering Saturday's game with the Thundering Herd (6-4).

The bet by Ono comes on the heels of Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Marty Brenneman pledging to shave his head if the team went on a 10-game win streak, an agreement he fulfilled on the field at Great American Ball Park in August. It appears Ono will follow through on his word as well since he tweeted a picture of himself trying on wigs on Monday morning.

Ono wouldn't be the only university luminary going bald if the Bearcats win on Saturday. The school president has recruited athletic director Whit Babcock and student body president Lane Hart to join him, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

It's good to see a school president take an active role supporting athletics at his school. The close-cropped look works for Mick Cronin. Maybe it will be a hit for Ono as well.
