Connor Shaw has a nearly perfect day, completes 20 in a row

Connor Shaw's day against Missouri didn't start that well, with an incomplete pass on third and 4. That was his first attempt, on South Carolina's first possession. He didn't miss the rest of the day.

Shaw completed his final 20 passes against Missouri. The only thing keeping Shaw from challenging the NCAA record of 26 straight completions in a single game, set by East Carolina's Dominique Davis, was Missouri's inability to keep the game competitive.

Shaw attempted just 21 passes before he was lifted for Dylan Thompson in the fourth quarter. The game was 28-3 when Shaw was taken out. He also fell just short of the SEC single-game record set by Tennessee's Tee Martin, which was 23 in a row. Shaw had 252 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and his play was a big reason he didn't have a chance to stay in the game and attempt enough passes to challenge the record. Though it's a bit disappointing Steve Spurrier, who has been known to keep passing despite the score, didn't decide to see how long his quarterback could go with out a misfire.

The win showed what South Carolina might be capable of if Shaw can avoid injuries. He was knocked around in the season opener against Vanderbilt, missed the second game of the year against East Carolina with an injured right shoulder and then left last week's game against UAB when he re-injured that shoulder.

If Shaw was less than 100 percent against Missouri, it's crazy to think what he and South Carolina might do when he is full strength.
