Supermodels Reveal Their Thoughts on Aging Beautifully

Do the world's most beautiful women have any insight for the rest of us into beauty and aging? Find out tonight on HBO at 9p.m. Eastern time, by watching the documentary "About Face: The Supermodels, Then and Now". The documentary, directed by fine art photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, follows supermodels like Beverly Johnson, Jerry Hall, and Isabella Rossellini into their post-runway lives, with a series of candid interviews about their careers, aging, and their perceptions of beauty. A New York Times story on the doc quotes Isabella Rossellini as saying that she knows her, "social status has diminished," and she now recognizes that, "as you grow older, you don't count anymore." However, many of the models, Rossellini included, find a great deal of beauty and grace, even in their later years. We rounded up the good, the bad and the ugly of model quotes on beauty, aging and the various means to accept your years or combat the perception of them.

"Of course, it's no fun getting old and getting sick and dying, we all know that's coming and it's a bore."-Jerry Hall, About Face

"To me the most beautiful thing there is in another human is confidence, and nothing says 'I'm not confident' as much as Botox."--Paulina Porizkova, About Face

"I'm very proud of being fit and strong at this age. I like to spin three times a week at least and couple it with yoga. I've been dancing on Broadway for years, so when I'm in a show, my muscle memory comes right back. It's like being an athlete."-Brooke Shields, Allure Magazine

"When I finished my college education my agent said to me …'The key to beauty is to be always educating yourself, always learning something new, always doing something new and to have something to talk about.' And I never forgot that, and I think that's how one ages beautifully."-Cheryl Tiegs, About Face

"Change puts a little bounce in your step. I've cut off all my hair and dyed it blonde. I've completely bleached my eyebrows. If you look at yourself in a different way, you start to look at the world in a different way."-- Yasmin Le Bon, Allure Magazine

"But people are living longer, they're healthier longer, they have sex longer. Why shouldn't we be allowed to age and why shouldn't we be respected for it? When I turned 50 I felt a sense of achievement. I've lived 50 years! I made it. I think there's something to be said for that and to be celebrated."--Jerry Hall, About Face

"I've actually started swimming and I do kick boxing too. This is the first time in my life that I've thought about myself, my body and physically taking care of it and not for any vain reasons."-- Helena Christensen, All About You Magazine

"Yoga is the absolute best set of tools I can recommend to help one feel and look one's absolute best at any age."-- Christy Turlington, All About You Magazine
