The most outrageous (and outrageously priced) holiday gifts of 2011-
Can the one percent of the one percent please step forward? Your Christmas catalog has arrived! Every year luxury department store Neiman Marcus unveils its holiday fantasy gifts with nightmare price tags that only sheiks, Internet billionaires, and characters in Danielle Steele books can afford. But that doesn't mean the rest of us can't window shop. This year's offerings are humble compared to 2008's $10 million thoroughbred stable and 2005's private Elton John concert. It is a recession, after all. For 2011, a portion of the proceeds for Neiman's most expensive offerings benefit cancer research and educational and humanitarian organizations. But most of all, the fantasy gifts benefit the person who gets to play with them. For starters, someone who's been nice this year may end up getting this Ferrari (which you can simply order off the Internet at Neiman's website). It's a 2012 model, one of only 10 made, and at $395,000 it's pretty much free...for Oprah.
