Cameron Crowe Books Next Film at Sony, Emma Stone to Star

Cameron Crowe has locked in Emma Stone as his next leading lady.

An individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap that Sony has acquired Crowe's latest original script, a romantic comedy that he will direct for the studio.

Stone, star of this summer's "The Amazing Spider-Man" and last summer's rom-com "Crazy Stupid Love," is attached to play the female lead.

She drew strong reviews for her part in the Marc Webb super hero tale, and now the studio and Crowe must find a suitable male counterpart.

Crowe's last film was "We Bought a Zoo," his first non-documentary feature in six years. The "Almost Famous" filmmaker co-wrote "Zoo" with "Devil Wears Prada" scribe Aline Brosh McKenna.

His last solo script was 2005 release "Elizabethtown," which starred Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst.
