Funny Lochte-Phelps video might be best of the ‘Call Me Maybe’ parody genre

In addition to dozens of columns hailing a passing of the torch in the pool, Ryan Lochte's dominant victory over Michael Phelps in the 400m IM on Saturday spawned something else inevitable.

Treat yourself to the "Call Me Maybe" parody video celebrating Lochte finally pushing his biggest rival aside.

Yes, you're sick of "Call Me Maybe" parodies. Yes, I'm sick of "Call Me Maybe" parodies. Heck, even Carly Rae Jepsen is probably sick of "Call Me Maybe" parodies. But credit the folks from the sports comedy YouTube channel The NOC for coming up with one with lyrics funny enough to make you chuckle even if the tune still makes you cringe.

Here's a sampling:

Now I'm the king of the pool // I made you look like a tool // Bob Costas thinks that I'm cool // I pushed you out of my way.

You were my idol // Now you're just a rival // Don't get suicidal // Where you think you're swimming, Mikey?

Grammy-worthy, right?

Two days ago, USA Swimming released a "Call Me Maybe" video featuring many of its top stars. That was fine. This was better.

(Thanks, USA Today)
