Kristin Davis shares a cuddle with Gemma Rose

It's been a year since Kristin Davis adopted Gemma Rose, and from the looks of things the little girl has settled right in.

The "Sex and the City" star enjoyed some tender moments with her 1-year-old daughter at a Los Angeles park on Wednesday. Davis, 47, was very casually dressed for the outdoor adventure, while Gemma was in an adorable blue floral print romper with a floppy white sunhat. The actress was a hands-on mom and happily held her tuckered out tot to her shoulder in a photo that should be framed at their house. The little girl just appears so relaxed and comfortable in her mother's arms!

The Davis ladies are back on the West Coast after a summer stint in New York City, where the actress was appearing on Broadway in "The Best Man" with a star-studded cast including James Earl Jones, John Stamos, Cybill Shepherd, and Angela Lansbury. The show, which ended its run on Sunday, was Davis' Broadway debut and her role was a big departure from good old Charlotte York Goldenblatt. In their review, the New York Post noted, "Davis lets it rip as the sexually charged, Southern belle wife of Stamos' Senator Cantwell. Her accent practically dripping molasses, she leaps into his arms at one point like a frisky puppy."

Talking about her stage gig, Davis said she turned to her old pal and former "Sex and the City" co-star Cynthia Nixon for advice after she was offered the part. "I called Cynthia to ask her what she thought. I always run everything by her, and she was like, 'Absolutely, you absolutely have to do this. Don't pause for a second. Run, run, run back to New York,'" Davis told Broadway.com. "You just don't get this opportunity with this cast and such beautiful writing."

Davis noted she bonded with her cast, having Sunday brunches at Lansbury's home, and tweeting up a storm with pal Stamos. Calling the gig "family oriented," she said she appreciated that the job afforded her the flexibility to spend her days with Gemma. Mother and daughter made good use of their free time "hanging out at the park, having a great New York time," she told Broadway.com, adding proudly, "She's walking a little bit."

Unfortunately, things in her personal life haven't been so picture perfect. According to reports, Davis recently ended her relationship with "The Newsroom" producer Aaron Sorkin. For months there were rumors they were dating and they finally stepped out together on the red carpet in June. Attending the premiere party for "Newsroom," they weren't shy about their coming out either — they held hands on the red carpet, kissed for photographers, and hit the after-party together. Normally private, it was perhaps the first time we had ever seen any red carpet PDA from the actress.

But, alas, by late August In Touch reported that their relationship ended. "They're very different people," a source told the magazine. "She's focused on raising her daughter, Gemma, and he's working on his show."

From the looks of these photos, she certainly is focused on her raising her daughter. Hopefully her romantic life will pick up again soon, too — if it hasn't already.
