You Can Now Tag People in Photos on Twitter’s Mobile App

Add Twitter to the list of social networks where you have to worry about people tagging you in an unflattering photo.

The company announced two new mobile features Wednesday afternoon: the ability to identify people in photos and to include up to four separate photos in a tweet.

Via the Twitter Android or iOS apps, you’ll now be able to label up to 10 people in a photo, all while your 140-character count remains unaffected. Check Twitter’s preview of the tool below:

Each time you’re tagged, you’ll be alerted via your notifications column. Don’t worry; if you want to avoid this mess altogether, you can grant tagging privileges to only your closest Twitterer friends in Settings. (For more instructions on how to do that, check out the company’s help page.)

The ability to share photos in quartet form is available via Android, iOS, and Twitter.com. It’s basically the same procedure as sharing photos from your existing library, but instead of tapping one thumbnail, you can pick four. Twitter will automatically generate a preview, which you can see displayed below your tweet before sending them out to the Internet. 

A virtual reality headset it is not. But Twitter does seem to be looking more and more like Facebook these days.
