Video of the day: Marriage proposal that will cure your fear of flying

Why Did the Paycheck Fairness Act Get Voted Down?

I'll admit I've gotten jaded about grand romantic gestures posted on the internet. Can't anyone just ask someone else to marry them without entering it into a get-famous sweepstakes?

Then I watched the video. The above 80 seconds oiled up my tiny, tinny Tin Man heart.
At about 32,000 feet in the air, Arvin Shandiz got on the airplane loudspeaker and proposed to his red-faced girlfriend. The couple had met in 2010 on a Delta flight and for whatever reason (good PR, cough) the airline company backed Shandiz' request to take over the plane in a loving, non-scary way. The entire cabin is jubilant when she says yes and at the very end of the video, they're all thanked for their participation with a round of booze. It was a good flight to be on.

Especially for the couple. Delta congratulated them on their engagement with a free honeymoon trip. My cynical spidey senses tell me this it might be Delta's viral attempt to bring back the romance in flying, as opposed to the butt-clenching roller coaster of fear that we expect from our air travel today.

Whatever. It works. Watch this proposal and tell me you don't wish for just a moment you were on that cramped red eye flight.
