What to watch: Day 11 at the Olympics
Here's a rundown of the key competitions to watch on Day 11 at the Olympics. The events can be live-streamed on NBC's Olympics website.
Day 11 — Tuesday, August 7, 2012
America's sweetheart Gabby Douglas will go for her third
Olympic gold in the women's individual balance beam at 9:47 a.m. ET. After falling short in uneven bars, look for Gabby to shine on the balance beam, where she posted the highest score in the individual all-around competition. She'll be joined by Aly Raisman, who is looking to bounce back from her heartbreaking fourth-place finish in the all-around final. At 11:23 a.m. ET., Raisman will join her teammate Jordyn Wieber in the floor final, their last shot at an individual gold.
On the men's side, U.S. all-around bronze medalist Danell Leyva and his teammate Jonathan Horton will compete in the horizontal bar at 10:37 a.m. ET. The men will also compete in the parallel bars at 9 a.m. ET.
Track and field fans can tune in at 2:23 p.m. ET to watch America's Lolo Jones continue her quest for a first Olympic medal in the women's 100-meter hurdles semifinal. The finals will also be contested Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
In men's soccer, defensive powerhouses Japan and Mexico face off in a 12 p.m. ET semifinal. The Japanese upset Spain 1-0 in their Olympic debut and haven't conceded a single goal in tournament play. Mexico, meanwhile, has some momentum after a 4-2 win over Senegal. Look for Giovani dos Santos, who scored three of Mexico's seven tournament goals, to be a strong presence in the midfield.

In other men's soccer news, South Korea will challenge mighty Brazil in a 2:45 p.m. ET semifinal. The scrappy South Korean squad squeaked out a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Great Britain, but toppling Brazil will be no easy feat. The lightning-fast Brazilian team is a scoring machine, tallying a whopping 12 goals in the tournament, while allowing only five.
In women's beach volleyball, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings go up against China's Chen Xue and Xi Zhang at 1 p.m. ET. America's two-time gold-medal
winners may have lost their first-ever set in an Olympic game last week against Austria, but dominant Missy and Kerri still have 18 straight wins and reduced their last opponent to tears. Chen Xue and Xi Zhang are the second-seeded Olympic team and haven't dropped a set in their last two stages. It promises to be an exciting showdown at Horse Guards Parade.
April Ross and Jen Kessy, America's No. 2 beach volleyball team, will battle top-seeded Brazil in a 4 p.m. ET semifinal match. Brazil's world-champs Larissa Franca and Juliana Silva haven't conceded a single set in Olympic play and will likely prove a tough challenge for Team USA.
Tuesday's other gold-medal bouts include men's triathlon at 6:30 a.m. ET, men's sailing at 8 a.m. ET, women's sailing at 9 a.m. ET, women's duet synchronized swimming at 10 a.m. ET, women's team table tennis at 10:30 a.m. ET, women's cycling sprint event at 12:26 p.m. ET, men's cycling keirin event at 1:02 p.m. ET, men's high jump at 2 p.m. ET, men's 3m springboard diving event at 2 p.m. ET, men's Greco-Roman 66 kg wrestling at 2:03 p.m. ET, men's Greco-Roman 96 kg wrestling at 2:48 p.m. ET, and men's 1500m at 4:15 p.m. ET.
