Florida softball coach caught in elaborate underaged sex sting

A Florida high school softball coach's freedom has been put in jeopardy by an elaborate sting investigation that caught him in the act of soliciting a minor.

As reported by Tallahassee television network WCTV, Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards High softball coach Milan Ivey was arrested following a lengthy undercover operation geared at outing online predators who schedule sex sessions with underaged teenagers online. In Ivey's case, the coach had scheduled to meet an online user he believed to be a 13-year-old girl at a Tallahassee intersection when police authorities popped out and arrested the coach on the spot.

The chief of safety and security of Leon County Schools, John Hunkiar, told WCTV that Ivey was relieved of his duties as softball coach within a day of his arrest, a decision which can bring some comfort to concerned parents in the area. Still, Ivey's footprint stretched far beyond the confines of Rickards High, where he had served as the school's head softball coach since February.

According to WCTV, Ivey has also held positions as a coach of the Blue Angels girls softball team and the head softball coach at FAMU High School before arriving at Rickards.

Now all those positions will remain in Ivey's past, with a stint in an area prison likely in his future. In the meantime, authorities will continue to work towards ensuring that Ivey never successfully completed on any of the online liasons he was caught in the midst of acting upon.
