Arsenal defender Andre Santos reportedly led cops on 130 mph chase

According to The Sun (which is always a terrible way to begin a story), Arsenal defender Andre Santos "could face jail" after leading police on a chase that topped out at 130 mph on the day before the start of the Premier League season. Santos did not play in Arsenal's 0-0 draw against Sunderland on Saturday, though he was named to the bench.

From The Sun:

Santos gunned his black Maserati to stretch ahead of pursuing police, it was claimed yesterday.

Cops were said to have struggled to keep up as the Brazilian international shot away at speeds of up to 130mph in the £110,000 car.

Police eventually stopped the 29-year-old left back 500 yards from Arsenal's training ground.

The dad of one — who has several high-powered motors plus a tiny Smart Car for shopping — was arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop.

He must answer bail next month and could be jailed for up to two years if his case goes to crown court and he is convicted.

The Sun also claims that Santos "weaved in and out of rush-hour traffic" before the police finally caught up to him. As someone who has been stuck in rush-hour traffic before, this sounds like it's only possible in a daydream while sitting in the claustrophobic gridlock of rush-hour traffic.

Anyway, if found guilty, Andre Santos should be sentenced to Maserati driving lessons with Mario Balotelli.
